My life is definitely about to switch gears and change
once again, this time for the better. On December 14th I will walk
with the second class of 2013 and graduate from New Hope Christian College with
a degree in Youth Ministry and Bible Theology. It has been a long 4 years with
a lot of pain, loss and heartache mixed into joy, happiness and me feeling more
blessed than I ever have before. This four years at New Hope Christian College
have changed my life in more ways that I can count. God has remained faithful
to me as I followed the call I know He has on my life. It has been quite a
journey and I wouldn’t change any of it. But with graduation comes the reality
of life that I had yet not really been able to take hold of. I will move back
home and live with my parents while I pray to find a job as soon as I can so I
save up money to start paying off my crazy amount of student loans.
The reality of life will hit me, but I’m prepared for it
so it’s not like it’s coming out of nowhere. It will be weird not having to
come back in January like all the past years. I won’t have to drive up that
long hill up to the place that has been my home for these past four years. I
will miss the teachers and the people who believed in me even when I didn’t believe
in myself. These people are what helped me get to where I am now and I am so
thankful for each and every one of them,
more than they could ever imagine. It’s a bittersweet moment with life
moving on. I’ve been seeing it with my dear friends who graduated last month,
and got married. Life changed for them as it will change for me. I can only
hope and pray that our paths will cross and the relationships we’ve made will
be strong enough to endure the distance. And if not, I will always look back
and cherish the memories we made together.
This part of life is making me nervous and scares me. I
have been caught having fear. But like in my devotions today 2 Timothy 1:7 says
“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (fear of the unknown or
unfamiliar or fear of making decisions) but a spirit of power, of love and of
self-discipline.” I know that God hasn’t abandoned me before so I can walk in confidence
knowing that He will walk with me through this challenge and part of life as
well. I know all will be great and okay. But it’s still hard sometimes not to
wonder or worry about what’s to come. It’s exciting and scary all at once but I
am so ready for life to turn the page and begin a fresh and new chapter. I am
thankful to God for all He has done in and through me these past four years and
I am ready to see what He has for me next. I know only great things are to
come!
