It’s the start of a new year and this year I believe is going to be the best year yet. A year of promises being fulfilled and I am super excited. Towards the end of last year I was given a gift from God. A gift that I had be frustratingly waiting for, for a long time. In July I met the man I know for sure I am going to marry. Brice has been a blessing to me in ways I never thought possibly. For so long I waited. Waited for God to answer my prayers and answer the desires of my heart. I had been on a journey with God. In college God became more real to me than he ever had, thanks to the prayers that he answered and the amazing support I had from teachers, friends and family.
Last
year at this time I was starting a whole new journey. I graduated college in
December and I was on a road of life discovery. I had no idea where life was
going to take me or what God was gonna bring to me. All I knew is that I had to
trust him. Through disappointments and trials God walked me through every
stage. I still didn’t know what he was doing but He kept leading and guiding me
through every step. I had been presented with an opportunity that I was really
passionate about and I thought it was a shoe in. It didn’t end up that way and
I was so devastated and it didn’t make sense.
A
month later God presented me with the biggest gift he could have given me, and
it was Brice. Hindsight is better than foresight I’ve been told, and I see it
with this. If I had been given that other opportunity Brice and I wouldn’t have
happened. God’s plans are higher and greater than our own.
“For my thoughts are
not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.”
~ Isaiah
55:8
I
also had a very huge upset happen around the same time. When the Lord closes a
door He opens a window. What this last year taught me is that sometimes things don’t
go your way. There will be hardships and heartbreak, and times of confusion
and perplexity, but in those times we
can find comfort knowing that God will bring all things to light in His time. What
we see as a disheartening occurrence, God is making things new and will restore
it the way He wanted it.
For
2015 I believe the word God has given to me is the word PEACE. Peace is defined
as “freedom of the mind from annoyance, distraction, anxiety, an obsession,
etc.; tranquility; serenity.” I believe that God wants me to have peace in the
midst of my new journey with the man He has given me. Things won’t make sense
and I’m sure we will have moments of frustration and uncertainty. But I know I
can rest and have peace knowing that God has it all under control and trusting
Him with my life and our life together is the best thing I can do. Peace of mind, peace of spirit, peace and rest in God. The other word is GRATITUDE. Being thankful for what I have and what God has given me, and showing gratitude to those people that God has blessed my life with. 2015 is looking to be an awesome year if I stay mindful of these things.
